What can I submit?
Stories, fantasies, fiction, real-life experiences and memoires, poems, essays … anything goes, as long as it is erotic, doesn’t try what is forbidden and has an Indian theme, context, setting, characters or general feel. And, of course, it must have sex in it.
Where and how do I submit my work?
On every page except the main page, you’ll see a link in the right sidebar inviting you to submit your story. Click that link and it takes you to a page where you have to login. If you have signed up previously, go ahead and login. If not, follow the link at the bottom to sign up with your name, email address, password and other particulars.
When you sign up, you’ll be sent a verification email at the email address you supplied. You must click that link in your email (or copy-paste it from your email into your browser address bar) and so verify your signup. Without verifying your email, you cannot login and without logging in you cannot submit your work.
Anonymous works are not accepted.
Once you’ve logged in, you will be taken to a screen where there are boxes for
- your name (required)
- your email address (required)
- the title of your story (required)
- a photo upload if you so wish (optional)
- the content of your story
Important
You must preview your work before you can submit it. The post button is not available on the first screen, but only on the preview screen.
That’s it! Your work will enter the system as a draft for review; I will be notified by email; and once I’ve finished editing it, it will appear in the contributions section (and any other appropriate section) and also be featured on the front page.
Can I upload photos?
Absolutely. There’s a box for this in your submission form page. Please do not upload unlicensed content to which you don’t have rights.
Will you, Mixo, be editing my work?
Without a doubt. That’s not negotiable. I reserve the right to publish or not publish your content as I see fit. Introducing forbidden matter is a sure-shot way of getting rejected. Don’t do it.
Do you have any guidelines for writing?
Not really. Just keep it simple, keep it focussed. Please, please, please proofread your work. I suggest you work in Word or some other wordprocessor, then spell and grammar check it, and then just copy-paste your stuff. Do not try and upload a word file. That’s another reason for rejection.
For guidelines on writing well, I suggest you do some research on the Internet. There are tons of resources out there for improving your writing.
There’s no space limit really, so write as much or as little as you want.
What do I do about formatting?
- Not very much. I don’t encourage the use of bold face in stories, so avoid that as much as possible.
- DON’T TYPE IN ALL CAPS UNLESS YOU WANT ONE OF YOUR CHARACTERS TO BE SHOUTING. ALL CAPS IS SHOUTING.
- You must double space between paragraphs. If you don’t, the whole thing becomes one long para. And it will be rejected.
- Italics are often useful. Use the standard HTML tag-pair for this, a <i>your italicised text</i> for this or, alternatively, use a simple Markdown marker: a single asterisk * on either side of your text, so: *text to be italicsed*.
What about copyright and repost?
See the FAQ section. Basically, all copyright is yours.
Can I submit my story elsewhere?
Sure. Go right ahead. So long as the others don’t mind, I don’t mind.
When can I expect my story to appear?
Roughly a week or ten days, seldom more, often much sooner. If it needs a lot of work, I might send it back to you by email and ask you to reconsider.
Do I get paid for writing?
Not a chance.
